Privacy Policy

Wildcatter Designs (“we,” “us”) runs wildcatterdesigns.com, where we sell hats, beanies, and other products we make in our own shop. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you buy from us on Etsy, Etsy’s privacy policy covers that purchase.

Information we collect

When you place an order

We collect your name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, phone number (if you give one), and the details of your order. That includes any personalization you ask for, such as a name to go on a hat.

Payments go through Stripe and PayPal. Stripe handles card payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. PayPal handles PayPal and Venmo. Your full card number and payment login go directly to them. We never see or store them. We do receive basic payment details, such as the card type, the last four digits, and whether the payment went through.

You can check out as a guest. If you create an account, we also store your login details and order history.

When you join our email list

We collect your email address and the date you signed up. We send a confirmation email first, and you’re only added to the list once you click the link in it.

When you contact us

If you email us, we keep your message and your contact information so we can answer you.

When you browse the site

We automatically collect some technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site or link that sent you here. That includes tracking tags in links, such as the ones on our Pinterest pins. This information comes from cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Children’s information

The website is meant for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Many of our kids’ products can be personalized with a child’s name, and a parent or other adult buying the item gives us that name. We use it only to make and ship that order.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • process, make, and ship your order, and to send order confirmations and shipping updates
  • answer your questions and handle returns and exchanges
  • send our email newsletter and your signup discount, if you subscribed
  • understand how visitors find and use the site, so we can improve it
  • prevent fraud and keep the site secure
  • keep the records that tax and accounting law require of us

Our email list

When you subscribe, we send a welcome email with a discount code. After that we send about one email a month, plus one or two extra in November and December. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us. We send these emails through MailPoet, a service built into our website. Your subscription information is stored in our own website database.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the companies that help us run the store, and only what each one needs to do its job:

  • Stripe and PayPal, to process payments
  • shipping carriers, to deliver your order
  • MailPoet, to deliver our emails
  • Google Analytics, to measure how people use the site
  • Our web host, where the website and its data are stored

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a website. We use them for a few purposes:

  • to make the store work, for example by remembering what’s in your cart and keeping checkout secure
  • to record how you arrived at the site (for example, from a Pinterest pin), so we know which of our efforts are working
  • to run Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people visit and how they get to them
  • to let Stripe and PayPal detect fraud during checkout

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block cookies, the cart and checkout may not work. To opt out of Google Analytics on every site, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Our website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

How long we keep information

We keep order records for as long as we need them for tax, accounting, and legal purposes. We keep your email subscription until you unsubscribe. We keep messages you send us only as long as we need them to help you.

How we protect your information

The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal, which specialize in securing payment data. No website can promise complete security, but we limit access to your information to the people who need it to fill your order.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • correct information that’s wrong
  • delete your information, except for records the law requires us to keep
  • stop sending you marketing emails

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page.
